After watching the Martin Lewis show tonight where he highlighted many were still paying contract monthly charges after contract ends but could switch to much cheaper sim only deal with more data etc I went onto uSwitch and staying with my provider (O2) switched from paying £26.52 per month for only 3GB data to a deal for £7.99 per month with 30GB - no brainer (both had unlimited texts and minutes). Got emails from O2 with documents and info and checked out.

Now I can't make or receive calls or texts. When I log into O2 I get told to activate the esim. There's a QR code - tried using wife's phone to take a photo of the QR code but just links to information about wearables (smartwatches etc). Information is given to activate the esim manually but when I go into SIM manager on my Samsung Galaxy S20 phone, there isn't an option to add an esim.

So now stuck with no phone. We don't have a landline. I have terminal cancer and my consultant and other medical professionals contact me on my phone so I can't be in this situation. Awaiting an O2 chat operator on the chat facility but don't know how long they'll take.

Can anyone help?

@Dazzergar01

If all else fails, go in store with photo ID to get a plastic sim (advisable) or an esim pack with barcode.

There's also a guide here for esims eSIM - How to activate

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

If you have been sent a QR code this is the procedure for installing on an S20

Go to Settings

Select Connections

Select Sim manager

Select Add eSIM

Select Scan QR code

Position the QR code in the box on the screen

Wait for your new plan to be identified

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
