Why doesn’t google maps work when on roaming? I have both roaming and mobile data on and the APN set to mobile.o2.co.uk and 4G disabled. I’m currently getting 3G ok.

@Stephaniefay Do you have Location switched on in your Settings?

I’m in Madeira, in the region setting it is set to U.K. and looking at the others in the region setting Madeira is not shown so I can’t select it. Should I be looking somewhere else? Thanks

Hi
it had idata.o2.co.uk APN before I changed it to mobile.o2.co.uk to get the roaming working as before the roaming wasn’t working. Google maps working when I’m connected to the hotel WiFi but not when I’m out or range, so not when I actually need it to work to help me find my way around.

Yes it works when I’m connected to hotel WiFi but not when I’m out and about 😞

@Stephaniefay You actually don't need your data on at all. You can download a map of the area using WiFi in the hotel and then use the map offline when you're out and about. Here's a how-to for iPhone and Android:
