I am going to Canada next month - what is the most cost effective way to stay in touch whilst over there

Buy a local sim card when you get to Canada, you can buy them in most Airport Arrivals / Luggage area. 

Other than that it will be £6 per day unless you have Volt / Plus Plan or a plan that includes o2 Travel Inclusive
