Massively late text delivery

Anonymous
Not applicable
I am not receiving texts on time, some come in on time but some are as late as 12 or more hours. This hasn't been happening long about a week or more.

But at present due to family matters I really need to get this resolved ASAP.

Please help.

I have an iPhone 5
With latest iOS updates

To get iMessages your mobile data must be turned on and turned on in settings , messages.

So you have the appropriate ticks next to your settings in iMessage.

Settings , message.

- send and receive. Place a tick next to your number and email addresses.

This way I get iMessages to my iPhone 5s and iPad Air.

Mine is also iphone 5, iOS 7.1.1 and Carrier 02 16

So if the general thinking is it's an iOS/ O2 problem - how do we get a solution?

Follow the advice here and in other threads and on apples website.

Seek a diagnostic via an apple Genius Bar to help rule out the iPhone. Make an appointment first.

Try an alternative phone as I suggested in an earlier post.

I don't know how many people are affected so cannot say one way or another if it is iOS 7.

So is everyone on 7.1.1 carrier ver 16?

Thanks for tips. I've followed advice from other threads and had both apple live chats and had diagnostic via Genius Bar. They gave me new handset despite not finding any specific problems that would cause this, but it still continued. I don't have an alternative phone - although will ask friends if they have one I can borrow. I think I will struggle not having iphone altogether though as it's effectively my mini computer and diary for my day to day business. The problem is also so intermittent it would be a case of having to switch over for a number of days. Not ideal. Thanks again though

I hope this is just a short term glitch and resolves itself so you can get back to enjoying your iPhone and network service.

Hopefully iOS7 patches and or carrier updates will be along which may help (no one knows what's going to be in upcoming ones )

Seems it may be a sim card issue http://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Pay-Monthly-and-Pay-Go/Can-t-receive-calls-or-texts-on-4G-Connection/m-...

Hum, nope that might be a red herring. I am using 3G.

I've cleaned the sim card as suggested. Under duress I have reset my network settings and lost all my saved network keys. Still no joy.

This is intermittent, sometimes all texts come through quickly. But I still get odd one that are between 6 to 12 hours late in delivery.

Hi @Anonymous

On looking at some of the other Network Forums and googling this seems to me that when all the generic suggestions are exhausted it could come to a Network glitch / congestion.

Frustrating at it is for some.
