Massively late text delivery

Anonymous
Not applicable
I am not receiving texts on time, some come in on time but some are as late as 12 or more hours. This hasn't been happening long about a week or more.

But at present due to family matters I really need to get this resolved ASAP.

Please help.

I have an iPhone 5
With latest iOS updates

Hi @Anonymous

On looking at some of the other Network Forums and googling this seems to me that when all the generic suggestions are exhausted it could come to a Network glitch / congestion.

Frustrating at it is for some.

It's worth checking your service status.

http://status.o2.co.uk

Remove your sim and give it a clean with a soft dry cloth.

And in some cases going into an O2 shop and having the sim swapped helps.

To add with your iPhone you could try a reset of your iPhone by ;

Hold the Top Button and Home Button until the Apple Logo appears, and then let go of both. Your iPhone will reset.

And or ;

Settings , General , Reset , Reset Network Settings.

I've had the same problem too. Also intermittently not receiving calls but get an answer phone message (if left) hours later. There is no notification of missed calls and these calls occur at times when I know I'm in a good reception area. I'm self employed and heavily rely on my phone for business. It first started after ios7 update. Did the things recommended above, contacted apple and did all their recommendations. They gave me a new handset in case that was the fault and the problem still continued. I thought I had found a solution which was to turn off the 3G - calls and texts as normal.... Until the next upgrade. Upgraded to latest iOS and the problem starts all over again. Intermittently I also have problems when making calls as won't connect. At a loss as to what to do now. I need my phone to work correctly!!

If you can get a free SIM card adapter from an O2 shop and try your sim in another phone.

Not an iPhone.

Process of elimination.

I can only confirm I'm on iOS 7 - iPhone 5s with no issues. Carrier settings : O2 15.6

You are the 4th person today to report this issue with a 5s.

Ok,some good points.

iPhone 5 not 5s

iOS version is 7.1.1
Carrier O2 16.0

Yes I think these issues may have started since the iOS update so that could indicate an O2 / iOS ?

I don't have another phone to try my SIM card in unfortunately, but that was a good suggestion thanks.

I will go and clean my SIM card.

I have reset my phone, reluctant to reset network settings as I'll loose all the network security codes I've entered.

If O2 give me a new sin card, will that mean I lose my phones number ?

I've also noticed that sometime iMessages go to my ipad or iPhone but not both, which is an issue as I don't have my ipad with me all the time and I miss the message as I doesn't always show on my phone.
