FaceTime activation

It seems impossible to activate FaceTime. I input my email and password as instructed but it keeps telling me that there is an error and to try again. I have done several times with no success. Can someone help please. Do I need to reset everything?

Tried what was suggested. Still no success. I cannot highlight my phone number and unhighlight my email address. Won't let me do it
