All watches have a different number.

You can't have two devices with the same numbers.

But they should be linked. Before last week no matter if I used my phone or watch it showed the same number now it is a different number and I have to have my phone by my watch to receive a call in the main number which is not right

You'll need to reset and resync your watch then.

Are yours and sons on the same account?

Activate Apple Watch Guide

Thanks for helping. Yep on the same account and all was fine till he changed his watch and somehow that disrupted mine. Have reset, re paired etc but still not working. Have been on to tech support 4 times and feel a bit fobbed off by them with no solution

Sounds like they messed up when changing your sons device.

Try getting help via the social media teams as they are good at resolving these kinds of issues.
