Hi - my phone was dropped in store on 28th August for an in-warranty repair (display not working) and it is still not back with me, latest status as of 09/09 is 'the repair is delayed and awaiting parts' - it took from 28th Aug to 9th Sept to get to an Engineer and now no further updates 4 days later. Im without my phone/o2 so losing out since it broke on 27th Aug. Why so long and how am I compensated for this period of phone downtime?

There is no compensation.
O2 didn't damage your phone and you can still use your sim in another phone whilst yours is in for repair.
