data charge

I am on an O2 Unlimited Tariff.

I sent a text message with a photo, from my home, on my wifi.

I see that this has been charged at 4.2p.

Is transmission of photos not included in the unlimited text allowance or in the 3GB data allowance?

Why would I be charged anyway, as I was on my home wifi?

Thank you

It would have been classed as MMS not a SMS (text)  @Anonymous

It's more like 42p not 4.2p (plus VAT).
You can't send mms over wifi either so they all go over the mobile network, hence the charge.
The only way to avoid this is to use an app, such as whatsapp or send via iMessage if an iPhone.
