Hi all,

Just had a text to say my bill is going up, i have only just joined for god sake. Why an increase so soon?

Also the text says there will be an increase of 7.8% inline with inflation. Combined with the annual price rise of 3.8%

Why dont they just say "your bill is going up by 11.7%"?

I am only on a tenner a month sim deal so no biggy, but someone paying £60 per month is going to end up paying another £7ish a month...........is that fair? 🤔

Fair or not, it's in the T&C's that everyone signs up to.

Hi @MI5 ,

Thanks for your input, i did actially read the T&C's that is why i am a little confused as to where they got their 7.8% from?

Maybe they could let us know where they get their info so we dont have to go searching?

Just a little link in the text maybe to say "this is the data source we use"?

They use the officially unrecognised rpi figure.

The inflation measures for the year to January 2022 are as follows:

  • CPIH inflation was 4.9% in January 2022 (Index: 114.6), up from 4.8% in the year to December 2021
  • CPI inflation was 5.5% in January 2022 (Index: 114.9), up from 5.4% in the year to December 2021
  • RPI inflation was 7.8% in January 2022 (Index: 317.7), up from 7.5% in the year to December 2021

Note that the Office for National Statistics no longer regards RPI as an official measure of inflation.

I am in the same boat. I only got my contract at the end of January and don't think its acceptable that I am hit with such a large increase in my bill within 3months of a 24month contract. This also happened with my virgin media account, but they offered me a reoccurring discount to negate the price increase as they also could clearly see this wasn't fair. O2 can easily do the same
