This is my second attempt to try and work.out why I'm not getting pictures with texts which were always free, until I applied a £0 spend cap on my account to avoid ringing premium numbers. It's very long winded to go to the address ive been given and enter a pin to retrieve the picture. I understand that I have to pay to send a text with a photo, but was never told about paying to receive one too as it was always free.
I did post this a few weeks ago on here and a reply suggested it was to do with my £0 spend cap and that o2 were aware of it. I phoned o2 in the last hour and I asked him to check for me andhis reply, I do have to pay to receive a photo with a text. They're removing the spend cap for 24 hrs and he will phone me tomorrow evening to see if I receive any picture messages without the spend cap on. #confused.

Unfortunately due to O2's "hammer to crack a nut" approach, you will need to add a small spend cap if you wish to receive picture messages.
A zero spend cap also prevents the receiving of short code texts.

They are free to receive but a spend cap does block them weirdly.
You must have mobile data turned on too even if connected to wifi.

Thanks for your reply MI5.....much appreciated. I guess you are right as they've temporarily removed the spend cap and I've received a text with pictures in the last hour. My mobile data is on ( I've just checked)
Are you suggesting that I should remove the spend cap to continue receiving free picture messages?
Any advice gratefully received.

Thanks for your suggestion jonsie, I'd already worked out I'd put a spend cap of £5 on, so your message is extremely helpful. Best wishes.

Thanks MI5 for your follow up message. Yes I'm going to apply a £5 spend cap which I had for years before removing it last month without realising the consequences. Most grateful to the O2 community, an excellent source for users like myself.
