I have had an O2 account through Virgin with phone number [Removed] which has a monthly bill of £32.74 for the period up to 4th August and due to be paid by Direct Debit on 18th August. My contract came up for renewal and I have a new contract with Virgin. Virgin have set me up with a new O2 account with phone number [Removed] at a monthly tariff of £10.00 and said it was for 10gb of data, unlimited calls and texts. I need the old account closing from 4th August 2023. I wish to transfer the old phone number (Removed) to the new SIM card which I have put in my phone. I spoke to Ntombizanele in O2 Customer Service on 1st August and she said she would sort it out. I have had a bill for [Removed] showing £11.30 to be paid on 18th August for charges up to 4th August. This cannot be correct as I didn't get the SIM card until 1st August.

From how you describe things your old account is still with Virgin. If that is the case then getting a PAC code from Virgin and giving it to O2 will do what you want
If they are both O2 then you need to migrate your old number across and that will close your old account
