How long does it take to switch from monthly to pay as you go?

I decided to switch from paying monthly to paying as I go and keep my old number.

I rang up and I thought I got it sorted. I was told to wait until my current SIM lost connection to the network and then put the pay as you go SIM in my phone. They said it would take up to 48 hours but it's been over 48 hours and my pay monthly SIM is still connected to the network.

Did something go wrong or should I be waiting longer?

Number swaps have been slow of late, @Jude232 - and they don't operate over the weekend. Guide: Migration & porting into O2 has some info. If it has not moved over by Tuesday end of day, contact O2 by Social Media in the link just below this post - good luck!
