ChAnge Of contract ownership

Anonymous
Not applicable
Hello. I am having a bit of a hassle with o2. I’ve called up several times and o2 give me conflicting answers each time. I want to transfer my contract which i originally took out for my husband . He wants the whole contract to be transferred into his name so that he can manage it and pay for it . I don’t just want to change the payment details but want the whole contract changing over to him.

I'm sorry but the only time that is possible is when the contract has completed it's minimum term, as the original contract will need to be cancelled and a new one taken in your husbands name.
If this is done prior to the end of contract, cancellation fees will be payable.
Your husband will also need to pass identity and credit checks in order to get a contract in his name.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

I don't know what conflicting advice you have been given but @MI5 is totally correct. It cannot be transferred.

Any 'conflicting advice' you may have been given could be in relation to bank details. If you have seperate bank accounts then payment could be taken from your husbands account not yours. http://service.o2.co.uk/IQ/SRVS/CGI-BIN/WEBCGI.EXE?New,Kb=Companion,question=ref(User):str(Mobile),C...

However the contract would remain in your name. The advice given above is correct....

I’m guessing it was possible in the past because there are various posts on here saying it can be done

You should be able to change the contract's owner entirely. Would you mind talking to CS again to see if you can? They should be able to change the origin details if you have the info they need

@Toby posted this.. and seemed pretty positive it could be done!

I remember the times when it could be done too, but policy changes.....
