Blocked sim

I've just received a call saying I need to change my SIM due to the O2 Virgin merger and my SIM will be blocked in 2 Days is this true I suspect a scam

It's a well known scam.
Block the number and do not follow any links.
Forward the scam text or number to 7726 - It's free.

Hi Just had the same call from number 020 3239 8087 from Virgin a foreign sounding lady who passed me on to a O2 caller a man this time who was also foreign, " my SIM card was going to be blocked within 7 days" I was aware this was probably a scam so strung him on for a while, when he realised what I was doing he told me to go and **** myself at this point I hung up and blocked the number.

Well done for realising it was a scam, and extra well done for stringing them along and wasting their time!
