I acquired a new phone yesterday in an O2 shop, with an existing O2 account. The VOLT benefits I previously had applied to my account have not been transferred. I can not see how to activate the benefits online.

Typically they take 14 days to re-appear after a change in the contract @FionaA04
If they are not there after 16 days then you might need to re-apply, and/or get in touch with customer services.
