I live in Witham in Essex and the status checker has said the same issue regarding a nearby mast for sometime! When will this be fixed? I’m nearing the end of my contract and if it’s not resolved I’m going elsewhere.

This is a forum consisting of O2 customers and former customers, @Tel_88 - nobody from O2 will see your message. Tips on how to check and let O2 know about your predicament in here: Guide: How can I sort out my network issues?
Also you can reach out to O2 via Social Media, links in the page just below this post, to see if there is an update. Finally, this app can be used to monitor and report to O2 on your behalf: https://www.o2.co.uk/apps/my-network - set it up after you register your details, let it do the hard work.
Meantime, if you have access to good WiFi or broadband, try using WiFi calling: https://www.o2.co.uk/connectivity/wifi-and-4g-calling to tide you over - mast repairs can take weeks or months to sort out, as getting access to the mast can be hindered by land owner changes, etc. As trees are nearing full leaf, this also can affect your signal, although in this case, you know a nearby mast is having issues.
Good luck, @Tel_88.
