Check your SIM does not have push-outs already:

Otherwise go to an O2 Shop with photo id and they will change it over and move your number to the new SIM, @Dorking100 - good luck!

You can order any free sim from here Pay As You Go SIM Card Deals & Offers (o2.co.uk)

When it arrives, do a sim swap and your number, tariff and credit will be transferred to it

As a last resort, you can buy a little tool from Amazon that will extract a Nano SIM from your old-fashioned SIM card. It operates a bit like a hole punch.

WARNING  It is a very slow process to get a replacement sim.  I just today rang customer services 4445 to get replacement triple sims for my two old mobile PAYG phones that have old mini sims that I can't pop out to get nano sims. (kept for backup use at home and in the car). I need these before I can change to a more modern phone.  Well each request has to be done separately and sequentially,  and in total it took 49 mins to get this done.

Why it takes so so long I can't fathom, nor why there is not a simple way to do this from the myO2 app or website (I use both).  Customer staff have to keep asking questions and then going on hold while the "back office" staff action the work.   They fill in the wait time by asking why you don't want to upgrade to their latest offer !! No thanks I just want replacement triple sims...  Nothing else thanks....  no really I don't... All I really want is a better O2 signal where I live in Petworth, Sussex.  Eventually they say "all done - they will be in the post".

The sales guys are incentivised to sell new Contracts over PAYG SIMs, @AndyT.

And about 4 months back, O2 decided the only way for customers to get a SIM was by calling O2 up, as you did, or going in-person into an O2 store/shop with photo id in-hand.

Also note your PAYG service will be terminated if you don't make at least one chargeable CALL in every 6-month period - as well as keeping it topped-up if you are on Classic Pay-as-you-go - possibly similar for a PAYG BigBundle or PAYG RollingPlan, now I think on it.

Good luck @AndyT

Unless they deal with you like me and tell you they have sent a SIM then ship nothing and mark the order completed

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Thanks MI5 - just read your post and link.  I went to the order page before but to me it looked like if I clicked on one of the "Order your SIM" blue boxes I would pay the price of the package it was connected to.  A min of £10.  Hence I took the other option of phone call to cust services.

HOWEVER - after your helpful recent post I went back to that page and clicked on a box (any one) and yes the cost was £0.00   I filled in my address details and now waiting for the sim and then do a sim swap online.  Thanks.
