If this is/was a PAYG number, you do need to make a chargeable call at least once every 6 months to keep the number alive.

If you use Social Media, ping a DM or message to the O2 UK Social Media team, and keep at them periodically until an agent engages with you, @imran_bham

The links for X and FB below work well, other ways in Guide: How to find help & contact O2

Good links to use:

Same team on all of those, @imran_bham - pick one and stick with it. I have found the DM, direct message, option on X works ok.

so dissapointed with o2 customer service, they were adamant this was never a o2 number, eventually  they said the number is no longer under their control as they can't locate anything or any history on their systems.

gave them the mobile telephone number in question, past addresses, email address it was associated with, photos of the sim, sim serial, today they fobbed me off, saying they cant do anything as they can't locate the account or any of its history?

There is a good chance it disappeared off their systems when things were changed over to the new systems

The agents will, most likely, never have heard of Genie SIM cards.

I suspect O2 are not going to spend time looking for something that costs them money to operate with little return.

Sounds harsh I know, but that's how they operate.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
