Upgrade scam !!!!!!

Anonymous
Not applicable

Today I received a call from 02(capita) offering me an upgrade. My current contract ends in about 7 months..conversation started with details about my current call plan, I could save money with a reduced plan as I dont use that much data or free call time etc, then went onto offering a new phone....all seemed ok at that point...I would have to pay £89 for phone, my old phone could be traded in for £200 and I thought ''Great'' as a customer of 10 years+ and had never received an upgrade directly from 02 it seemed a good deal.

Then she said.... I will have to pay £175. to change contracts

Total amount to pay today would be £265 ....then guess I would receive £200 soonish for trade-in so I would be down about £65, but over the next 7 monthsof call plan charges it equals about even. Them ahead by £10 or £20 at most.

Ok... I might end up with a better phone for the next 7 months, but why did they not say from the start that I would have to pay £175.00 upfront to change plans.

They rang me, not the other way round.

The reason for being with 02 was to avoid all this crap, get a phone, plan and crack on. Now they have another long-time customer saying 'up-yours' I'm going elsewhere

Hi @Anonymous If you want to complain....follow the advice in this link http://www.o2.co.uk/how-to-complain

It's not good enough that people like this have your details and try to pressurise you into signing up for a contract you neither want ot need... It was probably a so called 'trusted partner' of O2...

Capita is who o2 contract all their cs activity out to, so this would have been direct to o2, not a trusted partner in this case.
I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

Even worse... they are still pressuring customers to take out an unwanted contract..... (7 months before they need one)...

They will have "targets" to meet, by any means at a guess!

Out of curiosity how do you know it was Capita? Do you have the number that called you?

Also if capita are ringing you, then they have been told to by o2.
As has already been said Capita are about 90% of o2's CS capability..
