Settling contract and switching to sim only, but in daughters name?

Not sure the best way to do this...

I have an o2 account set up for a phone I got for my daughter. The device plan has around £200 still to pay, so I want to pay that and close that account, so she can open an account in her own name and arrange her own monthly sim.

Do I just settle the outstanding £200 device plan, close the 02 account, and then my daughter arranges her own o2 account and arranges her own monthly sim and puts the new sim in the phone?

In that case @alistairgd:

  1. Daughter gets new contract set up in her name
  2. Clear remaining device plan balance
  3. Call o2 customer services when both of you are present - she needs to request the number be transferred to her new contract, you need to approve transfer

All outlined in the guide Guide: Migration & porting into O2

@alistairgd

Exactly that, pay off the device plan and then cancel the Airtime there an then, especially if you are not precious over your daughters phone number..

Just make sure your daughter has her new contract first, as last I did this the number was dead within an hour

Ah she'd need to keep the same number - how do we factor that in?

Thanks for any advice.

@alistairgd Before you do any of that, make sure your daughter can pass a credit check. If she can't do that, she won't be able to take a contract in her own name.
