Moving from PAYG to Contract whilst requesting esim

Long story short, O2 convinced me to take a contract as I had so many issues using O2 with PAYG in Europe. I have signed up for a contract, have the PDF in my inbox etc but I requested an esim via email because i won't be going home to the midlands for another few weeks, I am in London though, soon travelling to Europe again.

So my question, will they actually send the esim via email to the email i gave them to send up the contract?  How long will that take?  It's been nearly 24 hrs.  Will I be able to set it up without know what my phone number is or having any other post from them O2?

@FD4321

See guide here eSIM - How to activate

For O2 Guide: How to find help & contact O2

If you're near an O2 store, go in with your passport and they should be able to connect you there.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

As you spend a lot of time in Europe just be aware of the fair usage Terms and Conditions

https://www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile/roamfairuse

Particularly

Using our inclusive roaming services outside the UK for more than 63 days in any four-month period is what we consider to be unfair use. If you do this, we’ll send you a fair usage notification by text. If you continue to use these services after we’ve notified you, we’ll apply surcharges for further usage that we recognise as overage.

These surcharges are £3.50 per GB for data, 3.3p per minute for calls and 1p per text. The surcharges will appear on your next month’s bill. We’ll stop applying surcharges to your non-UK usage once the majority of your usage over the previous four months has been in the UK.

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.

Sounds a trip to a shop, thank you @MI5    Just spoke with o2 on the phone and they told me I should wait for physical sim to arrive first and then do the process.  Complete the opposite I was told by sales lady.   But, thats how I have known it over the years, just doesn't work with my travel plan next few days.

@Enlli Thank you for sharing, I hope they give it 4 months, rather than based on first week of contract as id be in trouble...then again i haven't got a sim yet wink wink

i think ill be cancelling this order, o2 just too much faff, and back to vodafone where I had no issues for 25 years but it is pricier
