So I am currently in the Philippines and wish to avoid roaming charges here, and to gain access to o2 ap you must receive an sms on your mobile number, even though I know the password !!! Crazy I actually want to check the roaming bolt on is active for Hong Kong where I am going for a few days later today. 

Any suggestions ??? My phone has been off for a month so expect loads of texting upon turning phone on.

And using the link provided above by @Enlli for Hong Kong, you need the O2 Travel Inclusive Ultimate bolt-on, meaning you need to be on an Ultimate Plan (tariff) (an expensive one, usually!):
