Hello there,

I am going to Spain tomorrow and I wanted to know if I can still use my phone as normal or do I need to do something to enable me to use my phone abroad please? Will I get extra charges?

This guide will tell you what you need to have, @Trishpen321 - Guide: Roaming MegaGuide 

Basically, so long as you enable roaming and roaming data, and have no Roaming Bar active on your account (this can only be checked with a call to O2, sadly!), you should be good for 63days in any 189day window, and no more than 25GB data whilst in Spain in any one month (billing cycle).
