Early Upgrade

My phone screen is cracked and I'm not due an upgrade until August. I only have £78 left to pay on my Device Plan. I tried to upgrade using MobilePhonesDirect (much cheaper than O2 Direct) as I assumed this would work and O2 would just charge me the £78 to finish this contract. But O2 rejected the upgrade as it's more than 45 days from end of contract.

There is however the option on O2 to upgrade now to a 30day SIM only deal. (again just paying the £78). Is there anything to stop me doing this then instantly ordering a new upgrade phone on MobilePhonesDirect?

You can do that if you take out a 30 day sim. This will register an account and then you can get your phone from Mobiles direct. Best of luck and welcome to the forum

Thanks for the reply. I'm hoping to not take out a new account and that'll it'll just let me pay off my device and change to SIM only. Then it'll allow me to upgrade
