Good afternoon,
I am currently planning to cancel a direct debit on a monthly SIM that I’ve had for around 2 years, however I wasn’t able to find answers to these questions:
1) Does cancelling/ stopping DD for a specific SIM will completely make it unusable? (E.g. OTP texts won’t arrive, it won’t connect to networks, etc).
2) Can a DD (after it was cancelled/stopped) later be reinstated, preferably through the O2 app? (E.g if in a year I want to decide to connect the SIM again)
Any feedback would be appreciated.

Cancelling the direct debit will just give you issues with debt collectors and credit reference agencies.
Cancel properly Guide: Cancelling Your Contract or by contacting O2 Guide: How to find help & contact O2
Once cancelled, that's it. The sim is dead and cannot be reinstated.

Cancelling regular payments has no effect on the contractual status of a pay-monthly line, other than to put it into arrears.
If you request disconnection of a SIM, then after that 30days notice has been served and elapsed, the SIM is cancelled and will no longer connect to the O2 network. You cannot make or receive calls, send or receive text messages, or use mobile data, without that network connection.

Thanks for confirming 😁
