I have recently purchased a new 5G phone directly from Samsung (still waiting for it to be delivered).  I have a pay monthly sim card which was issued by Virgin Mobile, before my account was transferred over to O2. Will my existing sim card be 5G compatible with my new 5G smartphone, or do I need to order a replacement (more up to date) sim card from O2?

In the avoidance of doubt, I would pop to an o2 shop with Photo ID and do a sim swap, there and then, as we dont know how old your old Virgin Mobile sim is and to be honest its easier to just swap it.

This is not customer services and we dont have access to your account
I do not work for o2 or any VMo2 /Telefonica/Liberty Global Company

Many customers have reported issues with still using Virgin sim cards, so definitely, get it replaced with a new O2 one.

Further advice is to avoid an esim and make sure the new sim you get is 5g standalone (SA) compatible.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.
