@PamM I believe it's legitimate, but I don't know how far it's gotten since the thread was originally posted. See the link below:

It's legitimate. I'm on an O2 Sim only plan and have an Android phone.

I've been getting this since June. In the link posted by @Bambino it shows you the post by our manager. Apparently Apple devices were due to start Brand ID/Call Defence from September.
