@Anonymous odds are sending it in to be looked at will cost, first try backing up data you need/want. then do a full re-installation of windows. Odds are the repair center will do this themselves and if that solves the issue (possibly driver related after uninstalling something) a fresh install and update of drivers may resolve the issue and thus save you some cash. Depending on the age of the laptop they windows key should be embedded inside the bios and will just need the recovery disk. If not it's a more tedious task of ripping the key out of windows to re-input it later but that is a little more advanced (unless ofc you have a copy with a key at hand)

@Anonymous I'm sure your intentions are well meant, and @Anonymous will know that I am writing this without it meaning to be derogatory, but she is not technical at all, and won't understand much of what you have written, which is why @viridis suggested that she send the laptop away to be looked at.

@Bambino that's perfectly fine hence my brackets, I sometimes wish computers had self diagnostics, but in this day and age the divide between users and hardware is ever increasing 😞

I googled this for @Anonymous and there are so many options to fix (laptop make dependent) that I decided not to post. There is also an app called Touch Freeze which appears to work for some and not others...So yes I agree taking it to her local laptop shop (which she has used many times before) is probably the best in this instance... wink

Oh I remember Touch Freeze @Cleoriff. .years ago I had a problem with the cursor jumping into the middle of the sentence I was typing. It was beyond annoying and that helped loads. Also changing the dimentions and vertical scroll on the touchpad settings. x

Hi @Anonymous @Bambino @Cleoriff @Cairdeas

just lost all text from a post ... it's silly o clock ... was trying to thank you all ... will post properly later today  ... Carcer my background is clerk/typist/telephonist/receptionist ... retired yippee ... updated my office skills on an intensive 6 month RSA Royal Society of Art course 21 years ago ... got a distinction = proud of that, & btb 4 out of 5 of us 'women returning to work' still meet up once a quarter noon on a Saturday in town for lunch & a chat

Somewhere I missed out eg was working, and now town college does very few tech related courses & what they do are expensive

Good to hear from someone new Carcer ... I hope you stay on the forum
