Please can o2 add a service so that I can block unwanted SMS and phone calls.
This service doesn't currently exist on the network and I am appalled. I'm getting PPI mis-selling and other texts each week. I don't want to text back and for them to scavange the number into a marketing database, or find the text costs me a premium rate without knowing it.
I'm on the telephone preference service for my mobile. That should block marketing calls (if they abide by it) but not market research or messages sent by people who don't care about rules.

they use an auto dialler with with a sim & top up to get unlimited text & each time they change the sim when the money & free text have been used up so it pointless as each time you would just be blocking a number only for them to continue sending them to you via a different number

Unfortunately you can only block calls and texts if your phone has that facility built in. Most Samsungs have the option but I don't know of any network that will block specific numbers.

some phones have this as a feature.
the galaxy s3, can reject calls, so you wont get calls from a certain number. all you get is a text saying they called.
as for texts, you can report them as spam. not sure yet as to how good this is.
there are some apps, that say they do this????? free or any good etc, i have no idea

Cheers all. I've used the ICO link to report several messages.
I'm fully aware that the people who do this will use different numbers and a variety of methods to avoid being stopped. Also, I won't text STOP as that can either confirm my number as live and good to sell on or charge me a premium rate text.
My Nokia Lumia 800 has no facility to block numbers and apps can often make it worse if they are actually spam themselves.
I just want the option to fillter these out, whether at carrier or phone. It is possible for carriers to trace these (often the SIMs are bulk purchased in ranges) but it is expensive and avoided. Content filtering would be fantastic as an option even if it ended up being paid for.
