iPhone 4 on O2 'No Service' with O2 sim

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hey,

I've just bought a 'new' iPhone 4 from eBay that was made in June 2011, I have a monthly O2 sim which worked in my previous iPhone 4 (but it broke). However, this new iPhone 4 is O2 and will not get any service with my sim (though putting my sim in other iPhones works).

I still get a 3G connection and it does detect my sim, when selecting carrier from the menu's manually - all services seem to give me a warning of 'Restricted Service, select another service', but the phone is O2 (as according to some of the details on the phone).

So I'm not sure if the phone is just faulty or if there is some way a phone can be blocked in someway to stop other sim's (whether they're the same service or not)?

I can try to be more clear or expand if required, just ask!
Thanks for any help,

Tom

Put the iPhones serial number here https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do to check its warranty status.

Contact Apple who may be able to advise on the imei status of the handset.
Although they may decline to comment.

http://www.apple.com/uk/support/contact/

As said their are companies who charge to check the imei status.

Another fleabay horror story.

Big con on ebay is to sell a phone, report it stolen and get it blocked, enabling the seller to get paid from you and also claim on insurance. Not saying this is the problem in your case but it does sound as though the phone has been IMEI barred. Try checking with customer service but there are online services that will check the phone for a small fee.
