Hi,
Ive just upgraded to iphone 5 and have a few days left to cancel contract in cooling off period....
Im totally confused about the Iphone5 4G issue & would really appreciate some help
Sorry if there are already similar threads to this....
I have spoken to o2 advisor on chat who says iphone5 on O2 will definitely work with 4G LTE.... There is no coverage in my rural area yet - but they said if I visit a place which has 4G coverage (such as central London) - then ill experience 4GLTE on my iphone 5 straight away..
Is this correct? Is o2's iphone5 compatible with 4G after all?
Thanks loads for your help 🙂

Re the 4g promise o2 just chose that date I suppose that the monthly costs to pay off the contract will be to high to make it economical.
Glad we could help

It was clearly laid out about upgrade terms before the iphone 5 was released. See another current thread about the same thing.

Can someone please explain why having 4G on your iphone is so important?
For a start you will NEVER get the speed offered by 4G it will be throttled as EE do at the moment to around 12Mbs (yes i checked with EE) which you can get on DC-HSPA+ currently supported by Three. In fact DC-HSPA+ offers speeds of up to around 50mbs on the 3G network.
Why do you need that speed on a phone, well unless you intend to stream full HD movies to your very small iphone screen you dont, unless you tether, in which case your better off with a WIFI dongle.
O2 will never support the current iPhone 5 on 4G becuase the cellular design of the iPhone 5 doesnt support the operating frequency that O2 have for 4G.
Please dont get all wrapped up in this 4G marketting frenzy, its not all its cracked up to be, EE had huge problems and still do convincing people that they had to have a 4G phone, when you dont UNLESS you need the data speed.
I have a EE WIFI dongle in a 4G area along with a Three SIM i can swap between, and the Three DC-HSPA+ 3G network speed is higher than EE simply becuase its throttled.
