Hi, when I turn off my Wi-fi at home I believe my mobile data is supposed to turn on, with some kind of icon in the status bar at the top. However this isn't happening, when I turn off the Wifi nothing happens.
My "data network mode" is activated, and in the "Mobile network settings" menu I have "Use packet data" checked. My "Network mode" is set to GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode), and I've chosen "O2 - UK" as my network operator.
I don'thave "Data roaming" checked because I have no idea what that means, so I didn't want to risk being charged for something I'm not using.
So that's the problem, when I turn off my Wi-fi I don't see a 3G icon and I don't think my mobile connection is toggling.
Any help will be gratefully recieved, thanks

Thanks for your very quick reply!
I did not have a green dot there, so I just remedied that. However I still don't get a 3G icon when I turn off my Wifi...

I rebooted but still not getting a 3G icon when I turn off my Wifi. I tried to open a browser but it said I had no internet connection.
Do I need to select Data Roaming, or is that for something different entirely?

I just realised that in the Access point names section, the only APN option is "O2 WAP PRE PAY", and it has "payandgo.o2.co.uk" underneath it. Does the phone think I'm on pay as you go? I'm not, I have a contract.

Mine (also on contract) has "O2 Mobile Web" as the APN which links to mobile.o2.co.uk
I don't recall setting this up so assume it was part of the O2 firmware update to ICS?

Thanks for your help Chris. I think you're right, the apn seemed to be the problem. I just spoke to an online help "guru" and she sent me a configuration message to install the correct settings, and now I have a 3g or H symbol when I turn off my WiFi.
Cheers
