For the past few days I'neen getting flurries of texts: "Thanks for activating Visual Voicemail. Note: if you have data turned off, or can't get data coverage, you'll need to dial 901 to check for messages."

This suggests something wrong at o2's end.

Is there a way of turning this off?

Affects out-of-the-box Google Pixel 6a as well, @Maspiers - go into Dialler settings and flick this switch to "off":

It may return next time updates are applied, so make a note 👍

@Maspiers

Unless your phone supports VVM (not many do) you need to turn off VVM in your phone settings.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

@Maspiers

Its a bug in how Android is reporting your phone has reported its been restarted to the Network which means o2 thinks VVM has been turned on.

This mostly affects Xperia handsets, and I get this on my Xperia Pro-I when I reboot

More like a bug with O2's system.

Of course, if more phones had been supported, as promised years ago, it wouldn't be a problem at all.
