I've just upgraded my phone to the pixel 8 Pro but haven't been sent a new sim. Am I supposed to just use the old one

If it is an upgrade you can use your present SIM

Only reason to change it would be if it wasn't 5G enabled and you want to use the phone in a 5G area.

If that's the case call into an O2 shop with photo ID and they will swap it

This is not O2 and we are all customers here similar to yourself and cannot answer account type queries.
