Bandwidth issues Nighthawk M5 router - can these be issues with O2

I have a Nighthawk M5 router.

I have an excellent 5G signal and it's connected to an external antenna. The router connects to the 5G network fine.

However I have really low bandwidth. Compared to my iPhone, same network, same place, the Nighthawk delivers max 20mb/s - the phone 60mb/s.

Is this an issue with the O2 service, or should I be looking at my Nighthawk settings?

@TonyHrx

What type of sim are you using?

O2 only allow specific data sims to run at full potential in routers.

Phone sims are throttled and will eventually be disabled.

I have no affiliation whatsoever with O2 or any subsidiary companies. Comments posted are entirely of my own opinion. This is not Customer Service so we are unable to help with account specific issues.

It's a data-only SIM

Try changing the auth type to CHAP and make sure it's connecting to 5g.

Same result really. It says its connected, everything is thumbs up, but 2mb/sec bandwidth. I will connect up with ethernet later to see if it's a local WiFI issue. Your help is much appreciated and any other advice gratefully accepted.

What happens if you take your data SIM out of the Nighthawk and put it into the iPhone ? Are you then getting speeds similar to the Nighthawk ?

The iPhone had normal bandwidth as per it's own SIM. Great idea though!

I would speak to Netgear as the NIghthawk should get the same as the iPhone, as it could be a problem with how the Netgear is connecting to the network.

So if the Nighthawk SIM is fine in your iPhone, that suggests that the issue is something in your Nighthawk settings. Have you checked your settings such as your APN ?

Netgear also have an active community forum so it might be worth checking it for solutions.

I replaced the TS9 connectors from my external antenna and the bandwidth has increased considerably.
