Hi all,
quick query and apologies if I'm being thick. I was looking at upgrade options on my sim-only contract to cut my costs, and think I have found a 24 month one that works, but not sure if I have to pay out the rest of my current contract which ends next May.
There was a line on the relevant web page about paying out if I chose a shorter contract, but I wasn't sure what "shorter" meant in this context.

If you are on a fixed length contract then yes you will need to pay off the rest of your minimum term, especially if looking at the likes of uSwitch or MSE

Add the deal to your basket and go through the checkout process.
Before the final confirmation, it will tell you if there are any termination fees to pay.

Hi. I'm also on a SIM Only fixed term contract, and as you have only about 6 months left on your existing contract, you may not have to pay anything. It depends on what you're upgrading to, whether it's a new SIM only contract on a higher tariff, or a full contract with a handset. Sometimes the O2 website will discount your remaining months down to zero. You won't know until you go through the upgrade process as MI5 has said, and reach the final step, just before reach the Checkout. Also, it's worth ringing the upgrades team, to see if they can get you a better deal, as not all the deals are available on MyO2.
If you find a deal you like on the website, but don't want to complete it straight away, you save it and get a link sent to your email address, and the offer will be held for you while you shop around. ( This may benefit you, as the Black Friday sale may mean that your offer has gone down in price by the time you decide to proceed. ) That's what I'm doing at the moment, as no one on this forum has any advice for me so far that I haven't already tried.
Good Luck.
