Kept old number but people see new number?

I asked to keep my old number when moving from pay as you go to pay monthly, but some of my contacts see a new number. And ask is this my new number. Other contacts call new number and it says it no longer exists. How can I keep old number for all contacts?

If an iphone you need to change to your old number in the phone settings.

Did you go to Settings >Phone >My Number and edit it to the correct number you want to use?
