Contract cancelled, but I'm still being debited?

Hi all,

I cancelled my contract a couple of months ago but find I am still being debited. Who do I contact to get this fixed?

A secondary concern is that if I cancell the Direct Debit my credit score will be affected. So I want to ensure that firstly the contract is indeed cancelled, I am returned any overpayments, and that the DD is also cancelled.

@TheMightyLlama

You need to speak to customer service Guide: How to find help & contact O2

How to cancel here Guide: Cancelling Your Contract

There shouldn't be any need to cancel the direct debit as O2 will stop calling for it once the contract is correctly ended, but in any case, ensure you don't owe anything if you do cancel it with your bank.

If the payments were taken in error, they will be returned under the direct debit guarantee.

Calling is definitely the best option, certainly don't rely on live chat to carry out the correct procedure for closing accounts. As for the direct debit we have seen dozens of customers on here having defaults on their account for years for trifling amounts having impact on mortgage applications. Rest assured, O2 are so quick to sell any debt on without warning to yourself.
