No a monthly account is not necessary

Complete lies from the agent

Call into an O2 store with photo ID and they will supply a new sim and swap the account details over free of charge along with your number

Thank you for your prompt reply jonsie, I was concerned as it is an old sim/phone only used occasionally.  I guess its another naughty sales trick. Will call into my local o2 shop and have words.  Thanks again.

Since the merger it seems Virgin 'up-selling' is now the normal way of things

So don't worry but you do need a new sim
