disappearing data

I have just got lumia 520 on contract,connected to home Wi-Fi,I have been out with phone once and find I have used nearly 3mb of data,not much I know,but how, would it be something to do with the news and weather apps pinned to tiles if so can I switch it off or do I need to remove apps from tiles,thanks to anyone with a reply

Switch off cell (mobile) data then whenever you leave your wifi range nothing will be able to sync until you get back to a wifi signal. If you have a data package on your account it's not a big deal as the news & weather feeds don't add up to much data use overall.

Hi there if you have anything running that is constantly updating weather news etc it will use your data if you can switch it off auto update you could do that otherwise think you will have to remove them if you don't want them to update

You could try turning off any location setting as they will use data constantly looking for your exact location
