I had a BlackBerry Torch 9800, I upgraded to a Z10 and transferred all my information to my new phone. I even have my old Blackberry pin.. How is this possible?

your BBM contacts would transfer over when you put your BlackberryID into the z10 same as if you'd swapped to a different 9800. The PIN will be different but BBM goes with your BB ID.

Hi barryo,

It shouldnt be possible for you to have the same PIN, as each device is unique...and the PIN is linked to the device.

Is your BBM working? What PIN shows up for your BBM contacts when they look at your profile?

My BBM is working I didn't have to re-add my contacts the z10 did it all for me when I imported contacts. Several of my contacts wondered why I didn't have to add them again.. I will check the pins and will reply soon.

Yup, pretty much what I was gonna say, and probably shoudl have in my original post lol!

Your BBID now stores all your BBM contacts etc within it, so when you switch device all your contacts are there once you sign into your BBM (so long as you use the same BBID) but you will have a different PIN.

Its something RIM/BlackBerry have worked on in the past couple of years to make the transition from one device to another as seemless as possible
