But why do o2 keep doing these trials when the end user Still has not got a good service from the current system.

Erm, could it possibly be that O2 are trialling new technologies to see how they can improve the service offered and address some of the service issues? Having a bigger capacity mobile data network, such as the one that could theoretically be offered by LTE, would address the capacity issues being experienced now...

But existing handsets cannot use lte as far as i know!!

I think its quite ironic that you are complaining about O2 trialling LTE and asking them to concentrate on rural areas, when one of the benefits of LTE is better coverage in rural areas! So you should be encouraging them to trial and bring it to market as soon as possible.

Says it may not happen until 2012 so what about the next 2 years. Hence my comments in the getsatisfaction post.
