If you own one which brand did you buy and what was the main selling points for you?
I invested in a Tissot T-Touch Solar Connect which is quite a bit of tech to put on your wrist. As the name suggests it is aided by Solar charging and can last up to 6 months in best conditions. Rather than being full digital it uses a MIP (memory in pixel) display along with hand movement which uses a digital control. It can be set to several timezones, tell you the barometric pressure, a 3 mode compass, step counter, activity tracker (hiking), timers (chronograph/countdown/alarms) and has an altimeter (the distance from the sea in metres/feet).
Unfortunately it has no ECG sensor. Strap wise it has a titanium butterfly clasp with divers extension, 10 bar (100m) water resistance, the watch face uses sapphire crystal and the bezel is also ceramic.
The t-connect app allows you to store your activities, check your watch battery charge and also monitor the solar intake which can sustain your watch for much longer than a wired charge will do. Anyway it was a tad pricey however I think it is great for what I do.
Apple watches may offer better software and Garmin may be better for adventure tracking. However in looks it looks like a regular watch however once you look again you will realise it can do a lot more.

Hey @anticpated
I have a Garmin 955 and it's the best health and exercise tracking watch I have owned, and I have had a lot of Garmin's, but hmm currently wearing a Apple Watch Ultra 2 with a titanium strap and a fabric strap and the only thing I dont like is the battery life the Garmin would last 7-10 days, the Apple Watch about 36hrs at best
I also have a Galaxy Watch 7 which is OK, but seems clunky compared to the AWU and Garmin.
So for what your requirements are then I would recommend a Garmin Fenix 8 or 965 and if you use Apple then an AWU if Android then look at the Pixel Watch 3

I'm not one to follow the crowd but if I wanted to take things a bit more serious it would be a Garmin Fenix as that is more tactile. The tissot is just a bit more dressier than some other smart watches in my opinion.

I've got the Xiaomi Mi Band 6, and previously had the 3.
It's not expensive (the current version is the 9 and it's £30-40 depending where you buy it).
Battery live is pretty good - currently at 31% and last charged last week.
It's not too big, does all the normal things (sleep and activity tracking, plus has oxygen level measuring).
The standard app could be better - while it follows everything you do, the analysis part is behind others - but there are alternatives I've not been inclined to look into.
A friend is on his second Garmin and really rates them. Looks more like an actual watch that mine, but not sure if it would be too big for my wrist.
