No signal for 4 weeks

On 22nd January, I noticed activity on the water tower that houses the local O2 mast. As the tower is only 400 yards from my house, any activity is immediately visible. There has been no activity since 22/01, and coincidentally, there has been no O2 signal either. That's 4 weeks without a local signal. I believe that a local taxi firm has had to switch to EE in order to protect their business.

Ringing O2 is a time-wasting exercise - trying to have a conversation with someone who can barely speak English.

Some problems I can understand, especially given recent stormy conditions, but I can't accept there being absolutely no attempt to rectify the situation.

If you want to talk to O2, try social media who are UK based

Also dowloadd the My Network app where you can report issues and get updates.

Check if you have Wifi calling on your device

Sounds like the mast has been decommssioned or is been replaced or even the local landlord has had a hissy fit demanding too much money to host the mast.., hence no signal... And o2 will not tell you anything..  or the lan

Maybe have a look on your local council planning portal to see if anything has been raised.

Also be very aware that o2 (or any UK network) guarantee coverage or service in all parts of the UK.. and I would read the terms and conditions you read and agreed to, as all is covered in there.

You can also check here https://status.o2.co.uk

Also use WiFi Calling when in the home to make calls and get SMS (unless you are a PAYG customer),

Thanks for the advice.  No offence, but having worked in IT for over 45 years, this is like saying "Turn it off and back on again".

I think my initial message said that the whole area is affected.  I don't use Facebook, Twitter(X), or Instagram.

Have a nice day.

Hi madasaf1sh,

Thanks for your suggestions.  The water tower was up for sale a few years ago, to turn into a residential property, but I don't think it was followed up.  The only planning applications in recent times have been from O2 to install new, or to replace ariels[sic].

My phone is not capable of WiFi Calling.

I guess that I, and everyone else around here will just have to wait for the cherry picker to appear!!

@Marlon69 Maybe it's time for you to upgrade to avail yourself of Wi-Fi calling: Mobile Phone Deals & Contracts February 2025 - Uswitch

Either that, or consider switching providers like your local taxi firm has done:
