No faults in area when clearly there is!

I reported an issue in the MK46 area where O2 is just rubbish, i can just about get 2g service people are telling me they are trying to call me but are not getting though.  I report it to O2 and all i get is a lousy text message stating

 

"We've been checking for faults in your area but haven't been able to find any."

 

How about coming to my area and actually trying, because if you had bothered you might see there is a fault!!!

 

My new contract is completly wasted right now, the only way i can use internet on my phone is by walking a mile to the local Costa and using the free O2 Wifi.

 

I have had to resort to using TuGo which is great and all but obviously does not work outside.

 

Because of this issue i have had to get an EE contract and issue a new number to everyone.

 

Really poor service and after being with O2 for 16 years i am tempted to sell my phone in CEX and forget you ever existed.

@Anonymous This is a customer to customer forum, but if you put your postcode in the status checker http://status.o2.co.uk/ you will see that it is extremely patchy for 3G and no 4G service in that area, nor has there ever been 4G coverage. Have you just moved to this area?

 

If your new contract is still within the cooling off period you can cancel it and return the phone. You would only have to pay for what you've used up until now. If you've gone beyond that period, and do sell the phone to CEX you would still have to pay O2 for the device. Once you did that it would cancel the air time part of your contract.

It may well be that O2 are working to upgrade the mast in your area. This isn't as simple as people think...they may have to get permission from the landlord. I appreciate this doesn't help when you are stuck without a signal but  you could get the My Network app and report faults via that route? https://community.o2.co.uk/t5/Apps/App-Guide-My-Network/m-p/637595#U637595

If you decided to cancel your O2 contract, you could port your O2 number to your EE contract, and there would be no need to give people a new number.

We have been there a couple of months, the mast is over the road and for the 1st week we had 3g, not to fussed about 4g tbh and its gradually got worse.  The status checker has stated engineers have worked on this mast twice in the past 3 weeks.  EE won't change me over or buy out my contact to allow me to retain my number so i got a new phone and an ee contract. 

 

My plan was to sell the O2 phone in CEX and pay off my refresh and just move on.  If 3 would hurry up and buy out O2 then my problem would be solved as Voda/3 and ee work just fine here.

If your status checker has shown engineers have been working on the mast then they are definitely looking to improve the service in your area. I had that message 3 times when we were being upgraded to 4G ...It was completed in 5 weeks. You may have to be patient, as I am sure improvements are on the way @Anonymous

O2 in our area S35 7AD has gradually getting worse for the last 2 years, I had 2 mobile numbers with 02 and in December I got a great deal to change to BT (EE) as I have my landline with them. So I changed just one of them to see how it went, with a cheaper monthly payment and more Data 3GB compared to 500MB it has been great so far. As for my other 02 number which my wife uses, it has been getting steadily worse and other people in the area also are having problems. Last year they said they were upgrading the masts, but it only got worse, this year they say they upgrading to 4G, but now she finds there is no signal at all and cannot make calls, texts or receive data. On enquiring with 02, they checked and said it was the sim card that was faulty, they promply sent another which we received this morning (excellent service there)  at the moment we are waiting for the new sim card which we activated over 2 hours ago to start working (we were told 1 -2 hours although it could be 24) but nothing yet

I think the simple answer to our problem will be to port the number over to BT which seems to be working fine and has more than 6 million Wi Fi hotspots compared to the few thousand 02 hotspots.

The next few hours will give us our answer.

@Anonymous It's not up to EE to retain your number. If you call O2 customer service and request your PAC you can then give that to EE and they will port your O2 number to their network. EE using the PAC cancels your O2 contract, but you must wait until you get a final bill from O2 before stopping your direct debit.

 

@Anonymous You go with the network that gives you the best signal. Simple.
