MMS delivery notifications

Hi, I took out a 24 mth contract with O2 for the first time on 4 Jan and as I was on holiday for most of Jan I'm only now getting to find my way round my phone and customising it.  I cannot believe that after 2 online discussions with gurus and now a phone call to the store in Cardiff, I've been told that O2 doesn't support MMS delivery notification! This is important to me and I know that the other major phone service providers do support it.  I was told by the girl in Cardiff that I'm the first person to question this in 4 years that she's been working there.  Come on everybody - judging by online blogs I'm certainly not the only person to wonder why the only way to get a notification seems to be by keying the code *0# before the text message.  How inconvenient and unnecessary! Please if any of you feel as strongly about the arrogance of this, let O2 know!

Hi and welcome to the Community.

To be honest I don't see it as a major issue and there are many who aren't fussed. Some phones do Ashow an opt out but o2 haven't provided delivery receipts and read receipts for a long time. Years ago you could get them for sms as well on some networks but no longer.

As you appear to have a solution then recommend you stay with that if it works ok.

As far as I'm aware this has always been the situuation with O2, if you want the delivery report then you have to use the *0# prefix to your message. (it applies to GiffGaff too)

I used to have delivery reports, the notifications did my tree in so turned it off after a day.

Got to be honest, in all my years I've never had a customer ask about them either.

I'm am on a legacy tariff but it shouldn't make a difference. Either O2 support it or not, I think it depends more on the phone that.
