Then just turn off mobile/cellular dat and just use free wifi.

You might try a reset of your phone which may help your sms issue. Hold the home and sleep button down until the Apple logo appears which should reset your network for you.

If you still can't send/receive sms then come back to us for further options.

It will be apps updating in the background. Turn off cell data (mobile data) then they can't use your credit.

MMS or SMS?

MMS needs data, not much point having a smart phone without it really.

Can you not just get a data bolt on - It will be cheaper in the long run.... SMS should come through OK with data turned off as they run on 2g.

£3 a month, i dont always top up so the bolt on would be annoying.
