Clear cache will not lose you anything but a reset will wipe everything.

You could try factory reset but depends if it even stays on for it to complete.
Does it restart while connected to charger?

Hold volume down and power together for 20 seconds.
Then choose clear cache from the menu.
If that doesn't help try the reset option next.

Good news and bad then. Not sure how you lost data to be honest but you may find it backed up to Google.

I've never heard of cache clearing wiping data tbh, but at least you're sorted now.
