Ah, pity. Perhaps all is not lost though... either it's still being progressed in the system (the 28 day thing, with customer service NOT helping you much), or you could pop into an O2 store and take it up with them. Failing that you can use other methods (local unlocking shops or websites) but for a fee so 'shop' around. I've heard it can be done for £20 (just one example).
Good luck!

I assume to mean to allow you to move providers?
If so, yes, I have been having the same issue:

They've even reduced my contract as I thought I could leave within the week as they promised the code within 48 hours (after already waiting 7 days). I just seem to keep getting empty promises.

Hi both,
It doesn't help much but a couple of months ago I applied for a code for my S2 and got it within 2-3 days if I recall correctly. I had applied on-line and was told it could take up to 28 days.
Now for a long shot... are your devices definately locked to O2..? Does an O2 logo appear when switching on or a different SIM rejected and/or code asked for..? It wasn't with O2 but I'd applied for an unlock code for my wife's S2 only to discover it wasn't actually locked.

Unfortunately I've tried my Virgin SIM in it and it requests a code before allowing me to do anything. 😞
I've filled out the form twice and various discussions with support but appear to be getting nowhere! Very disappointing.
Cheers for the reply though.

Do you know if they can unlock it in an O2 store or do they have to do the same procedure?
Oddly, the 28 day warning came with my second form filling. My first stated 10 days but the O2 reps all are stating 7 days for Samsung.

Hello again,
No doubt the 28 day thing is just the generic disclaimer we see with lots of things... ah those days when you could buy a 10 record LP set of Des O'Connor's finest but delivery would be up to 28 days
I don't know if an O2 store could do this but I'd like to think they could, or at least get the ball rolling and work with you directly. On-line services don't appear to be instant rather take your details and money and work to a 24 hour window.
Next time you're out on a high street perhaps talk to one of the stands that offers unlocking and ask them how much and how they do it. Although it's still money you might find your new SIM/service savings are worth it..?

Complained (yet again) with Customer Service and guess what..........no joy !!
To be honest I did manage to get a £10.00 credit for my "inconvienience"
Also, Ive received an email from Telefonica saying the code had been requested and should be with me in "up to 10 working days"...fingers crossed.
Is it straight foward once you have the code ????

Sounds like some progress, and best to just wait now. To unlock your phone (once you have the code) you need to insert a SIM card from a different provider, and when you switch the device on you will be asked to key in a code number. Et voila!
